Since 1889, we have stood alongside individuals and communities facing some of the world’s most difficult challenges. What began as a humanitarian initiative in Chicago, United States, has grown into a global organization committed to protecting human rights and advancing dignity for all. Today, we are Heartland Alliance International. An independent international organization advancing healing and justice for the world’s most vulnerable people.

What We Do

Our multi-sectoral work focuses on supporting individuals and communities affected by violence, displacement, and other humanitarian emergencies. We respond to urgent needs while helping people rebuild their lives and strengthen long-term resilience. Each of our programs is rooted in respect, dignity, and close collaboration with communities.

Healing the
wounds of trauma

We provide trauma-informed mental health care and specialized services for individuals impacted by torture, violence, and forced displacement. Our approach fosters emotional recovery, strengthens resilience, and supports communities in rebuilding their lives.
