At a glance: rights situation
Armed conflict
Colombia’s internal armed conflict has resulted in more than 9.9 million registered victims according to the National Victims Registry, illustrating the extensive impact of decades of armed violence on the population.
Peace accord
Although the 2016 Peace Accord with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC-EP) represented a historic milestone, Colombia has faced a gradual return of violence in subsequent years. As of 2026, persistent armed group activity, territorial control disputes, and threats to civilians continue to undermine security and stability, especially in vulnerable regions.
Migration crisis
The Venezuelan migration crisis has led to the arrival of approximately 2.9 million Venezuelan migrants in Colombia, along with more than one million Colombian returnees. Beyond the challenges this context presents, migration has also opened important opportunities for economic dynamism, entrepreneurship, labor force diversification, and social innovation.
Our approach
Legal Counseling
We help vulnerable individuals understand and exercise their rights. Our teams provide legal counseling and referrals, including support for people facing protection risks or barriers to documentation and services.
Protection services
We work with those forced to flee or those confined by armed groups or territorial control. Our teams identify risks, provide tailored support, and connect people to services that help ensure safety and continuity of care.
Mental health and psychosocial support
We use a community-based model to support individuals, families, and groups affected by conflict, displacement, violence, or loss. Services include individual and group sessions, psychological first aid, specialized mental health services and activities that strengthen coping skills and community resilience, among others.
Economic recovery and early assistance
For families affected by food insecurity or loss of livelihoods, we offer early recovery support, cash-based assistance, and routes toward economic stability through employment opportunities, strengthening of entrepreneurship initiatives and its integration with mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
